In a recent survey on the campus of the University of Ghana, Legon, RGG news posed the question of who holds the title of the best rapper in Ghana. From responses, Sarkodie, Kwesi Arthur and Manifest were top picks for the best rapper, according to views of students in the survey.
Quite a number gave Sarkodie top marks as compared to other rappers.
Among those favoring Sarkodie, Justice asserted that, Sarkodie is the best due to his dominance on the rap scene over an extended period.
One student mentioned Sarkodie’s numerous awards as evidence of his rap supremacy in Ghana.
Yolanda, also endorsed Sarkodie, emphasizing his exceptional rap skills and stage craft.
However, not everyone was aligned with the popular choice. David, while acknowledging Sarkodie’s skill, declared Kwesi Arthur as his favorite due to the artist’s
relatable lyrics and admiration for his work and personality.
According to Reuben, it is often said the best rapper is Sarkodie but he believes it is Kwesi Arthur, because, Kwesi Arthur always expresses the concerns of the youth whiles Sarkodie’s themes tend to revolve more around personal experiences.
In contrast, Mohammed also broke away from the Sarkodie consensus, saying Manifest is the best rapper, “he is good at what he does which is very evident as he has won many awards,” he said.
Another supporter of Manifest praised his intelligence and English-language proficiency, which makes his lyrics easily understood.
