A third case of Mpox has been confirmed in Ghana, this time in the Greater Accra Region, according to the Ghana Health Service (GHS).
Dr. Dennis Laryea, Deputy Director of Public Health at the GHS, revealed that the case was identified last week, with investigations and contact tracing underway.
“We haven’t found any new cases among the contacts so far, but we are monitoring them closely,” he stated.
The first Mpox case in Ghana was reported in August in the Western Region, followed by a second case involving the patient’s mother.
Health authorities have assured the public that measures are in place to prevent further spread.
