The Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MOFA) has announced the closure of some principal streets in Accra ahead of the upcoming National Famers’ Day (NFD) Celebration.
The celebrations which will feature a five-day Agricultural Fair dubbed “Agrifest” will begin from Monday 27th November to 1st December.
In a statement signed by the Deputy Minister of MOFA, Mr Yaw Frimpong Addo, and copied to RGG News, he stated that the affected areas include the “ministerial enclave, starting from the Ridge Roundabout through the Principal Streets of Parliament House, Independence Square, the John Evans Alta Mills Court Complex, to the Principal Streets of the National Theatre.”
He added that official passes would be granted to vehicles of Ministers, Head of Civil Service, Auditor General, Controller and Accountant General, Deputy Ministers, Chief Directors, and Directors to access the blocked areas to their respective offices.
Mr Addo, also the Chairman of the NFD committee, urged staff and clients of the affected government institutions to park their vehicles at the Independence Square or Afua Sutherland Park.
‘The Ghana Police Service will be deployed to provide adequate security ensuring the safety of vehicles parked in these designated areas,” he stressed.
