The National Organiser of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye, has filed a lawsuit at the Supreme Court, contesting what he describes as the unlawful termination of public sector appointments made both before and after December 7, 2025.
Nana Boakye argues that the directive, issued by the Chief of Staff on February 10, 2025, oversteps constitutional limits and violates Article 191(b) of the 1992 Constitution, which protects public service employees from dismissal without due process. According to him, neither the Chief of Staff nor the President has the authority to unilaterally revoke legally sanctioned appointments.
He is asking the Supreme Court to declare the directive unconstitutional, restrain government agencies from implementing it, and affirm the President’s obligation to uphold the constitutional rights of public sector workers. Additionally, he is seeking an order for legal costs.
The Attorney General, named as the defendant in the suit, has 14 days from the date of service to respond.
