In total from these centers, the number of recorded voters at the time of our visit was an estimated 1267.
An electoral agent at the Church of Pentecost Bethel Assembly, “1” center said although materials and equipment arrived on time, the team had a challenge of finding furniture.
At the time, they were about to start work and hoped the voter turnout at the center will be impressive.
At the Church of Pentecost Bethel Assembly, “2” Center also in the La Nkwantanang East District, materials had arrived and voting was underway as at 8:00am but only 1 voter had cast their ballot.
The team was also at the Social Welfare Center at Madina which had two centers on the same compound. Electoral materials had already arrived with voters getting in line to cast their ballots.
The electoral agent disclosed that “as at 5am the materials were already here and moved from here to other polling centers with the exception of tables and chairs which has caused the delay ….it is a little past 8:00am and the exercise has started. “
She was hopeful that the exercise had started on a good and peaceful note and expected that it will continue without any major challenges.
Speaking to the presiding officer at the Center, Vincent Amoah, he said that the process has so far not recorded any hiccups, adding that the turnout has been relatively good compared to previous years.
On his register, about 700 voters are expected to cast their ballot at that center but so far only about 100 of the number had voted. He also praised the Police for maintaining the peace at the center adding that their presence has contributed to the smooth running of the exercise.
RGG news team spoke to Mr. Seth Agbenorhevi who had just cast his vote. He said his fingerprints and facial recognition caused a little delay in his voting process but was resolved after the presiding officer intervened emphasizing that his experience was smooth and without much incident.
He disclosed that the former assembly man failed to deliver on his promises and hoped the incoming assembly member would live up to expectation. For him, he expects hard work and proactiveness from him.
At the Roman Catholic Church Center, Mr. Eric Opare Kumi an aspiring Unit committee member was hopeful that many people would come out to vote before the exercise comes to an end. He urged the voters in his area to vote for him to help resolve the many electricity issues plaguing the community. He believes his predecessors did their best and it is now his turn to show what he brings to the table for the benefit of his electoral area.
