The Black Satellites of Ghana crowned the 13th African Games hosted in Ghana by beating Uganda 1-0 in the men’s final football match.
In a tightly contested game, Jerry Afriyie’s spectacular strike in the 90th minute was enough to help the team cruise to victory.
This win marks Ghana’s second gold in men’s football at the African Games, following their success in 2011 under the leadership of former Ghana coach James Kwesi Appiah.
The female U-20 team secured gold on Thursday night by defeating Nigeria, while the male U-20 team had to go all out to secure a late victory over Uganda at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Also, this happens to be Coach Desmond Offei’s first major tournament after he was promoted to assistant coach.
