Collins Augustine Ntim loses primary to CTVET Director General

In the Offinso North Constituency, the incumbent Member of Parliament, Mr. Collins Augustine Ntim, who is also the Deputy Local Government Minister lost his bid to represent the NPP in this year’s parliamentary election in the area, to the Director General, Commission for Technical, Vocational Education and Training (CTVET), Dr. Fred Kyei-Asamoah.

The incumbent MP polled 231 votes while Dr. Fred Kyei-Asamoah garnered 378 votes to represent the NPP in December’s parliamentary election. Mr. Ntim has served the people in the area as DCE and MP for the past two decades. He thanked party faithful, chiefs and opinion leaders for the support and the honour done him to serve them over the years. National Paramedics Training Center for the National Ambulance Service, Local Governance University among others, which includes support for his successor to retain the seat for the NPP, come December.

The Deputy Local Government Minister appealed to his supporters and Dr. Kyei- Asamoah’s supporters to bury their differences and focus on winning in December.

The NPP’s Parliamentary candidate elect for Offinso North, Dr. Fred Kyei-Asamoah, said the election process was smooth. He called for hard work and unity to retain the seat for the NPP.

In a related development, the MP for Pru West in the Bono East Region, Mr. Stephen Jallulah, who is also the Deputy Minister for Roads and Highways, won his bid to represent the NPP in this year’s parliamentary election. He garnered 336 votes while his only contender Alhaji Iddrisu Gariba polled 80 votes. The other two incumbent NPP MPs in the Bono East Region, Mr. Martin Adjei-Mensah Korsah, Techiman South and Mr. Alexander Gyan, Kintampo South went unopposed.

According to a recent opinion poll conducted by Global InfoAnalytics and released on Thursday, Kwabena Boateng, the New Patriotic Party's candidate in the Ejisu Constituency, is favoured to win the by-election on Tuesday, April 30, with 50.9 percent of the vote. From the same poll 47.5 per cent of voters are likely to vote for Mr Kwabena Owusu Aduomi, an independent candidate, with 1.7 per cent remaining undecided. Zero point two per cent said they would vote for Ms Esther Osei, the Convention People’s Party (CPP) candidate, with the rest of the candidates having zero per cent.
