The Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Dr. Dominic Ayine, has nominated three individuals to serve on the General Legal Council (GLC), the body responsible for regulating the legal profession in Ghana.
These nominations were made in accordance with the Legal Profession Act of 1960 (Act 32), as outlined in a statement from the Attorney-General’s office.
The nominees include Francis Xavier Sosu, the Member of Parliament for Madina; Clara Beeri Kasser-Tee, a lecturer at the University of Ghana School of Law; and Dr. Abdul-Bassit Aziz Bamba, a senior lecturer at the same institution.
Their appointments are expected to contribute to the Council’s mandate of overseeing legal education and maintaining professional standards within the legal sector.
The statement also noted that President John Mahama has been informed of the nominations and reaffirmed the Attorney-General’s commitment to collaborating with Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo to ensure the effective administration of justice.
