Minority Leader Dr. Ato Forson has called on the incoming NDC government to avoid engaging in the alleged corrupt practices that have characterized the outgoing NPP administration. Speaking in Parliament, he urged his colleagues to embrace the principles of integrity, probity, and accountability in their leadership.
“We must never become like the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia government,” Dr. Forson remarked, emphasizing the need for the NDC to chart a new path by prioritizing policies that genuinely benefit Ghanaians rather than serving political elites and their associates.
Dr. Forson also highlighted the NDC’s electoral gains, claiming the party had won over 50 parliamentary seats from the NPP. He expressed optimism that reducing the NPP majority to what he described as “nkokor nkiti nkiti” is achievable, attributing the election results to widespread dissatisfaction with the current government.
“The just-ended election was a revolt against a government that is dismissive, insensitive, and unresponsive to public concerns,” he added, citing Ghanaians’ readiness to hold leaders accountable.
Meanwhile, Majority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin urged the NDC to honor their campaign promises, particularly on tax reforms and other key pledges made to Ghanaians.
