The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has referred its former Dome-Kwabenya Member of Parliament, Sarah Adwoa Safo, to the party’s National Disciplinary Committee over recent media engagements that violated party directives.
A statement signed by NPP General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong said her remarks on JoyNews’ The Pulse contradicted an earlier directive cautioning members against public discussions that could sow disaffection within the party.
The party had previously urged members to refrain from discussing internal matters in a manner that could generate negativity. However, Adwoa Safo’s comments were seen as undermining party unity and efforts to rebuild ahead of the December elections.
As a former MP, Deputy Majority Leader, and Minister of State, she was expected to uphold the party’s values of discipline, loyalty, and unity, the statement added. It also cited Article 3(5) of the NPP Constitution, which requires members to promote and defend the party’s reputation.
The Disciplinary Committee is expected to review the matter and determine the appropriate course of action.
