The search for a new coach for the Black Stars is ongoing, and there is a strong demand for Ghanaian coaches to be given the chance to prove their mettle. Supporters firmly believe that Ghana has many talented coaches who can successfully lead the Black Stars to winning ways. When the opportunity arose, two Ghanaian coaches eagerly expressed their interest in taking charge of the team.
One of them is Maxwell Konadu, who reportedly submitted his application last week, hoping to finally achieve his long-awaited dream job.
Maxwell Konadu has demonstrated his value with a distinguished coaching career, which encompasses being an assistant to Kwasi Appiah in 2012 and their successful collaboration during the 2013 AFCON in South Africa and the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. Following Kwasi Appiah’s dismissal in September 2014, Konadu assumed the role of interim coach and skillfully led the team to qualify for the 2015 African Cup of Nations.
Konadu continued to contribute to the team’s success as assistant to Avram Grant until the Israeli coach’s departure after the 2017 AFCON. With the reappointment of Kwasi Appiah as head coach of the Black Stars, Konadu remained as one of his trusted lieutenants, alongside Ibrahim Tanko.
Additionally, he was a member of Milovan Rajevac’s technical team during the disappointing 2021 AFCON campaign, which unfortunately ended at the group stage. While the deadline for applications has now passed, the clamour for a Ghanaian coach to lead the Black Stars remains strong.
Another Ghanaian coach who has thrown his hat into the ring is Michael Osei, whose impressive resume includes handling clubs like Asante Kotoko and Liberty Professionals, as well as serving as an assistant at FSV Frankfurt II.
Although his recent position was with Bibiani Goldstars FC, Osei’s vast experience and proven track record make him a worthy contender for the Black Stars coaching role. Confirming his application for the Black Stars coaching position.
With a wealth of experience gained from coaching in Ghana for over a decade, including guiding young talents like Majeed Ashimeru, Enerst Nuamah, and Osman Bukari at the U23 level alongside Ibrahim Tanko, Mr Osei is confident in his ability to lead the squad to victory.
