Contractors working on the Obetsebi Lamptey interchange are back on site after a long break from May 2023. The project is to decongest vehicular traffic around the stretch that links rind road west, Winneba and graphic road. Tier A of the interchange which connects Winneba and Graphic Road has been completed and opened to motorists. But tier B which is the North West flyover, has been under construction since February 2021. Resumption of work on Tier B has caused road diversions leading to traffic congestion on the stretch.
The 92 million Euro project is been undertaken by Messrs QGC UK Limited. Some drivers and commuters say the delay on the project has caused more harm than good. They say the deplorable nature of the road has affected their work and damaged their vehicles. Others believe that the commencement of work on the stretch is a mere political gimmick by the president to garner votes in the December election.
