The Government of Ghana has reiterated its commitment to settling outstanding claims with world oil giant Trafigura, following reports of a circulating letter that has raised concerns about the government’s handling of a pending Settlement Agreement.
According to the Ministry of Finance, the letter, which appeared on social media on 24th September 2024, inaccurately suggests that the government has not acted on the agreement. The ministry clarified that the letter refers to ongoing discussions aimed at finalizing pathways to settle the claims.
In a statement issued by the Public Relations Unit, the Ministry of Finance reassured the public that all necessary arrangements have been made to fulfill the agreed-upon claims after several rounds of negotiations.
The ministry emphasized that efforts to resolve the matter are progressing as planned, to bring it to a close.
