Asante Kotoko forward Albert Amoah has described his dramatic goal against rivals Hearts of Oak as an early Christmas gift to the club’s supporters.
Amoah struck in the 95th minute of their Ghana Premier League matchday 13 clash, capitalizing on a defensive error by Hearts’ Kelvin Osei Asibey and Benjamin Asare to secure a 1-0 victory at the Baba Yara Stadium. The late winner sparked jubilant celebrations among the home fans.
Speaking to SuperSport Blitz after the match, Amoah expressed his delight, calling the goal a gift for the loyal Kotoko supporters.
“I feel very excited and happy to be here. I love my fans so much,” he said. “[This goal] is for Christmas. They should take it and enjoy themselves.”
The goal marked Amoah’s seventh in the league this season and helped Kotoko climb to sixth place, overtaking Hearts of Oak in the standings.
Prosper Narteh Ogum’s side will now aim for a third consecutive win as they prepare to face 17th-placed Dreams FC in their next fixture.
