The Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) says it will announce new fares for public transport.
The Union says this has been necessitated due to the continuous soaring of prices of petroleum products at the various fuel pumps.
Currently, Diesel and Petrol are selling for GHȼ14 and GHȼ13 respectively at major fuel pumps; a situation the Union says is destroying their profit.
Speaking to RGG News, the Public Relations Officer for GPRTU, Abass Imoro said the union can do little to salvage the situation.
“We are holding meetings with stakeholders and if we are able to conclude, we will come out next week with a percentage of the increment,” he said.
He also cited the rise in the cost of spare parts as contributory to the need for this action.
“Due to the increment in fuel products and spare parts, we are unable to make enough money to cater for our families”, he said.
