NPP Communications Director, Mr Richard Ahiagbah, has unequivocally denounced the opposition NDC and its presidential candidate, John Mahama, as the root cause of Ghana’s persistent unemployment crisis.
Following President Akufo-Addo’s State of the Nation Address to Parliament, the Minority accused the government of turning a blind eye on the rising unemployment rates in its tenure. Dr Ato Forson, Minority leader said only 11.3 million of Ghana’s 33 million population are employed, with peasant farmers also included in this figure. In his estimation, this leaves approximately two-thirds of the population jobless, with a staggering 30% of youth unemployment. Furthermore, he asserted that approximately 4.5 million employable Ghanaians are outside the labour force.
However, Mr Ahiagbah contends that the 1D1F program could have generated more employment opportunities if NDC parliamentarians had not obstructed critical tax waivers and incentives intended to attract investments. Writing on social media, he stated “170,000 jobs have been created under the 1D1F initiative so far,” Ahiagbah asserted. “But even more jobs would be created if NDC MPs stop blocking exemptions for companies under the 1D1F initiative. The NDC & Mahama are the problem. Let’s say NO to Mahama & the NDC.”.
