The Supreme Court has temporarily halted the Speaker of Parliament’s decision to declare the seats of four Members of Parliament vacant.
A five-member panel, led by Chief Justice Gertrude Sackey Torkornoo, ruled that the Speaker’s action violated the rights of the MPs’ constituents.
The seats have been reinstated, and Parliament has been ordered to submit its statement of case within seven days.
The decision follows an application by NPP MPs, led by Majority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin, challenging the Speaker’s ruling.
