Oliver Barker-Vormawor, the organizer of the anti-galamsey protest by the Democracy Hub, has been granted bail in the amount of GH₵20,000 with two sureties, after three previous unsuccessful attempts.
Barker-Vormawor was arrested on September 23, 2024, during a protest against illegal mining, or galamsey.
He faces several charges, including conspiracy, unlawful assembly, stealing a police car key, causing unlawful damage, offensive conduct conducive to the breach of peace, assaulting a public officer, and defacement of public property.
As part of the bail conditions, the court has instructed Barker-Vormawor to report to the police twice a week.
