The Director of Communications for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Richard Ahiagbah, has issued a statement urging the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to return to Parliament and fulfill their legislative responsibilities.
In a post on X, Ahiagbah emphasized that the NDC must “sit where they belong to take care of the people’s business,” especially with the first quarter budget for 2025 approaching.
He criticized the NDC’s ongoing efforts to disrupt parliamentary proceedings, describing their actions as a misguided attempt to gain a majority.
Ahiagbah urged the opposition party to abandon their “disruptive and unpatriotic Secret Document” and instead focus on the vital task of presenting, discussing, and approving the upcoming budget.
His remarks come amid significant tension following the Speaker’s declaration of four parliamentary seats as vacant and the subsequent indefinite adjournment of Parliament.
This situation has led to a political deadlock less than two months before Ghana’s general elections, scheduled for December 7.
