Delegates from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Damongo constituency, located in the Savannah Region, have initiated voting in the party’s flagbearer elections, albeit at a slow pace.
Reports from RGGNEWS correspondents have suggested that this trend is specific to the Damongo Constituency, where delegates are intentionally delaying their ballots to engage further with the candidates before deciding.
It is commonplace for candidates and their agents to be seen endeavoring to ensure that delegates are transported to the polling stations during these kinds of elections. However, it appears that in Damongo, the delegates are taking their time to make an informed choice.
In contrast, the situation seems more favorable in the six other constituencies in the Savannah Region, where delegates have shown up in large numbers, and the voting process is expected to conclude by 11:00 a.m.
The NPP is set to declare its flagbearer after the elections, which will take place at the Accra Sports Stadium. These elections are a crucial step for the party as they determine the individual who will lead them into the 2024 general elections.
