The Communications Directorate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has called for balanced media coverage in the Sacana Region. This follows a three-day media training event held in the region to strengthen its engagement with the local media.

The training aimed to foster a collaborative relationship and acknowledge the media’s vital role in communicating the party’s achievements and initiatives.

The NPP’s director of communications, Mr. Richard Ahiagbah in an engagement with the media men after the training expressed gratitude to the media for their invaluable support in disseminating information in the Savannah Region. He also appealed for the continued partnership between the NPP and the media to promote the party’s accomplishments.

He further called on the media to prioritize the public agenda, emphasizing the importance of leading with information that serves the interests of the public. Mr. Ahiagbah pointed out that while the media plays a crucial role in influencing public opinion, it should strike a balance between the public agenda and its own interests to ensure that citizens make informed electoral choices.

He clarified the NPP’s stance on the recent incident involving thugs who attacked UTV. He stated that the NPP is pro-media and distanced the party from the actions of the assailants. He assured the media of a stronger partnership, growth, and professional development under the NPP.

He discussed the Youth in Agriculture Program (YIAP), emphasizing it as the best opportunity for youth since the Fourth Republic. The YIAP, in partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture, aims to engage 200,000 youths in agriculture. Mr. Ahiagbah highlighted the benefits of YIAP, including land allocation, farm inputs, stipends, ownership of allocated land after five years, access to storage and markets, and more. He encouraged the youth of the Savannah Region to seize this initiative.

Mr. Ahiagbah further discussed the state of the economy, noting that it is recovering from the effects of COVID-19 and the Russia-Ukraine War. He noted that inflation is decreasing rapidly, and job opportunities are being created for the youth, particularly in the agricultural sector.

He urged the media and citizens to support the government’s efforts to further develop the Savannah Region and Ghana as a whole.
