The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration has issued a travel advisory urging the public to avoid conscription and non-essential travel to conflict areas.
This caution comes in response to the activities of middlemen and agents who falsely claim to secure citizenship, resident permits, and job offers in regions plagued by armed conflict.
In a statement issued from Accra on the 25th of March, 2024, the Ministry emphasized the perilous nature of journeys to conflict areas and countries at war, citing dire consequences often faced by unsuspecting travelers.
With ongoing conflicts in various parts of the world, travelers are strongly advised to exercise caution and carefully assess their travel plans.
Furthermore, the advisory highlights the risk of conscription in certain regions and urges travellers to prioritize their safety and well-being.
Specifically, individuals offered job opportunities in areas with potential risks of conscription and armed conflict are encouraged to stay informed, exercise caution and take proactive measures to mitigate any potential risks.
The Ministry emphasized its commitment to the safety and welfare of the Ghanaian public, urging all media houses to disseminate this advisory widely.
By heeding the warnings and taking necessary precautions, travelers can reduce the likelihood of being conscripted into military service while traveling in conflict zones.
