Former President John Dramani Mahama has commenced a three-day campaign tour of the Upper West Region, starting in the regional capital, Wa, ahead of the 2024 general elections.
Upon his arrival, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) paid a courtesy call on Wa Naa Fuseini Seidu Pelpuo IV, Overlord of the Waala Traditional Area, where he engaged with the chiefs and elders.
As part of the tour, Mahama will visit key communities including Wicheau in Wa West, Goripie in Wa East, Daffiama, Nadowli, and Charia in Wa Central. The campaign will focus on the NDC’s vision of “Resetting Ghana,” outlined in its manifesto, which seeks to address pressing national issues.
During his stop in Wechiau, Mahama received reaffirmed support from Naa Imoro Nandom Gomah II and his people, who expressed their confidence in the NDC’s ability to deliver victory in the December 2024 elections.
Responding to their concerns, Mr. Mahama emphasized that the NDC fully understands Ghanaians’ challenges, particularly due to the weakened economy and rampant unemployment.
Mr, Mahama assured the community that within 120 days of his administration, the NDC government would introduce transitional measures to stabilize the economy, curb rising food and essential goods prices, and improve living standards.
He highlighted job creation initiatives such as the “24-hour economy,” “One Million Coders,” “Adwumawura,” “Big Push,” “FEED Ghana,” and the “National Apprenticeship Programmes” as key strategies to reduce unemployment and revitalize the economy.
Mr. Mahama’s campaign seeks to mobilize broad support as he aims to lead the NDC back to power in the 2024 elections, promising practical solutions to Ghana’s economic struggles.
