President John Dramani Mahama has called for intensified efforts to achieve gender equality, emphasizing the need for women’s empowerment across all sectors of society.
Marking International Women’s Day on March 8, President Mahama acknowledged Ghana’s progress in advancing gender inclusion, particularly with the election of the country’s first female Vice President. He urged stakeholders to build on this momentum and take concrete steps to accelerate progress.
In a statement on Facebook, he stressed the importance of prioritizing women’s empowerment in education, business, politics, and leadership, advocating for a society where every woman has the opportunity to realize her full potential.
“This year’s theme, #AccelerateAction, calls for urgent measures to ensure that we achieve gender equality. Ghana has made some significant strides, particularly in electing its first female Vice President. Let’s build on this momentum,” he wrote.
President Mahama’s message aligns with global calls for action to break down barriers facing women and ensure equal opportunities in all spheres of life.
