The Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, has held separate meetings with delegations from the European Union (EU), the United Nations (UN), and the Colombian Embassy, focusing on strengthening security cooperation and prison reforms in Ghana.
During discussions with the EU delegation, led by Ambassador Irchad Razaaly, the minister reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to maintaining security and stability. The meeting reviewed the EU’s Defence and Security Initiative (EU SDI) in the Gulf of Guinea region, which seeks to bolster Ghana’s security capabilities. The EU delegation also explored areas of collaboration to support the Ghana Prisons Service, particularly in decongestion and infrastructure improvement.

In another engagement, the United Nations Security Advisor to Ghana, Ms. Lihong Shen, met with the minister to discuss security partnerships. She congratulated him on his appointment, while Hon. Muntaka reiterated his commitment to working with stakeholders to maintain peace and make Ghana a viable investment destination.

Meanwhile, the Colombian Ambassador to Ghana, H.E. Daniel Garces Carabali, paid a courtesy call on the minister to discuss bilateral cooperation. The meeting covered prison reforms, training programmes, disaster management, and prisoner welfare. It follows previous high-level engagements, including the visit of Colombia’s Vice President to Ghana in 2023.
