The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has intervened following public complaints about the treatment of Ghanaian visa applicants at foreign embassies and high commissions in the country.
In a statement issued on February 24, 2025, the ministry acknowledged grievances ranging from inadequate waiting areas and lack of emergency services to prolonged appointment delays and difficulties with visa application websites.
To address these concerns, the ministry has sent a Note Verbale to all embassies and high commissions, urging them to ensure more humane conditions at their visa centres. It expressed hope that foreign missions would respond positively to the request.
While recognizing that embassies and high commissions retain full discretion over visa issuance, the ministry assured the public of its commitment to monitoring compliance and advocating for better treatment of Ghanaian applicants.
