The Ghana Health Service (GHS) has reassigned Regional Health Directors as part of its efforts to enhance healthcare delivery across the country. The reassignments, which take effect from April 14, 2025, are aimed at optimizing leadership in various regions to ensure the effective implementation of health policies and programs.
According to a statement from GHS, the changes affect key directors, including Regional Directors of Health Services (RDHS) and other senior health officials.
- Dr. Samuel Kwabenu Boakye-Boateng, formerly the Regional Director of Health Services (RDHS) in the Upper East Region, has been reassigned as Director, Policy, Planning, Monitoring, and Evaluation Division (PPMED) at GHS headquarters.
- Dr. Kennedy T.C., previously a Medical Superintendent at Shai-Osudoku Municipal Hospital, has been appointed as the Acting Director for Family Health.
- Dr. Abdulai Abukari, who was the RDHS for the Northern Region, now assumes the role of Director, Special Duties at GHS headquarters.
- Dr. Alberta Adjebeng Biritwum-Nyarko, formerly Director at PPMED, GHS Headquarters, has been reassigned as RDHS for the Central Region.
- Dr. Marion Okoh-Owusu, previously Director at the Family Health Division, GHS Headquarters, is now the RDHS for Bono East Region.
- Dr. Braimah Baba Abubakari, who served as RDHS for the North East Region, has been transferred to the Upper East Region in the same capacity.
- Dr. Damien Punguyire, formerly RDHS for the Upper West Region, has been moved to the Eastern Region.
- Dr. Josephat Analmwine Ny, previously RDHS for the Savannah Region, now takes over as RDHS for the Upper West Region.
- Dr. Emmanuel Atsu Dodor, formerly RDHS for the Ahafo Region, will now serve as RDHS for the Volta Region.
- Dr. Akosun A. Owusu (Mrs.), previously RDHS for Greater Accra, has been reassigned as RDHS for the Ahafo Region.
- Dr. Chrysantus Kubio, who served as RDHS for the Volta Region, now moves to the Northern Region in the same role.
- Dr. Paulina Clam Appiah, formerly RDHS for Bono East, will now lead the Western North Region.
- Dr. Godfred Kwabenu, previously RDHS for Western North, has been reassigned to the North East Region.
- Dr. John Ekow Otoo, formerly at GHS Headquarters, will now serve as RDHS for the Savannah Region.
- Dr. Robert Amesiya, previously Medical Director at the Upper West Regional Hospital, has been appointed as the Acting Regional Director for Greater Accra.

The GHS emphasized that these reassignments are part of a broader strategy to strengthen the leadership and efficiency of regional health administrations. By aligning experienced professionals with critical roles, the service aims to enhance the implementation of health programs, improve service delivery, and address regional health challenges effectively.
