The National Development Planning Commission (NDPC) has launched “Vision 2057,” a strategic framework to improve living standards and achieve upper middle-income status for Ghana by 2057.
The plan focuses on macro-economic stability, public service efficiency, institutional strengthening, human capital development, technological innovation, land reforms, infrastructure, and sustainable energy.
Nana Susubiribi Krobea Asante Paramount Chief of Asante Asokore, launching the document in Accra, called for bipartisan cooperation to ensure its success, citing the instability of current political cycles as a challenge.
He suggested constitutional amendments to secure long-term development continuity.
The framework was developed through reviewing previous strategic documents and extensive stakeholder consultations, including inputs from civil society and political parties.
NDPC Chairman, Professor George Gyan-Baffour, said flexibility in planning is critical to accommodate varying political agendas.
Mohammed Alhassan Damba former president of the Ghana Institute of Planning urged the NDPC to ensure widespread understanding and support for the vision among Ghanaians.
