The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has debunked claims circulating in a viral audio recording on social media, describing the allegations as baseless and unfounded.
The recording alleges that a civilian pick-up truck was granted access to the Magazine at the 5 Battalion of Infantry to transport boxes of ammunition to an undisclosed location.
In a press statement issued by Brigadier General E. Aggrey-Quashie, Director General of Public Relations, GAF assured the public that the claims are entirely false and should be disregarded.
The statement clarified that the vehicle in question was delivering a live cow to be quarantined before being transferred to the kraal adjacent to the Magazine premises.
GAF further cautioned against the spread of misinformation, urging individuals and groups to verify information regarding security services before sharing it. The statement noted that such unverified claims could incite fear and panic, particularly in the current period of heightened sensitivity.
Reiterating its commitment to national stability, GAF encouraged the public to contact its Department of Public Relations for any inquiries. The statement underscored the importance of avoiding actions that undermine the peace and security of the country.
GAF assured Ghanaians of its unwavering dedication to safeguarding the nation’s sovereignty and called for collective responsibility in preserving calm and order.
