Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson has engaged market women, head porters, and other traders at Makola Market to discuss their concerns and expectations ahead of the 2025 Budget presentation scheduled for Tuesday, March 11.
Describing the interaction as insightful, Dr. Forson highlighted the vital role these traders play in sustaining the economy, acknowledging their daily efforts in driving commerce and supporting livelihoods.
Joined by his deputy, Thomas Nyarko Ampem, the discussions centered on key economic challenges affecting small-scale traders, including inflation, taxation, and access to credit. He assured them that their concerns would be taken into account in shaping policies for the upcoming budget.
Meanwhile, the government has approved the 2025 fiscal policy document following a special Cabinet meeting on Friday, March 7. The approval signals the administration’s focus on economic stabilization and sustainable growth ahead of the official presentation to Parliament.
In a related development, Dr. Forson is set to host an interactive session on X Spaces on Sunday, March 9, at 8:00 PM. The session, aimed at gathering public input, will be hosted by social commentator @gyaigyimii.
