Swansea have signed South Korean top-flight club Gwangju FC’s Eom Ji-Sung on a four-year contract for an undisclosed amount.
The 22-year-old is likely to play as a left winger or centre attacking midfielder for Swansea.
Eom has 20 goals in 108 League games for Gwangju and is the first Korean to play for Swansea since midfielder Ki Sung-yueng, who helped the team win the League Cup in 2013 and scored 12 goals in 162 appearances from 2012 to 2018.
Swansea started their pre-season preparations with a 3-1 victory over League Two side Swindon Town over the weekend, and they will shortly embark for a mini-tour of Austria, where they will face FC Koln on Wednesday, July 24.
A statement released by the club says, “We wanted to increase the amount of attacking actions we can have on the pitch at the same time, and be more dynamic in terms of how we attack the middle of the pitch and the outside of the pitch.”
“Hopefully Ji-sung can give us more tools and dynamic actions to carry a greater threat.”
