Starting today, February 1, 2024, the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) is on a campaign tagged, ‘Operation No Free Consumption.’ It targets customers and users using electricity without payment.
According to ECG, teams will be on the field for the next two weeks, updating customer details, collecting arrears, and disconnecting non-paying users.
The operation is scheduled to conclude on February 15, 2024.
The External Relations Officer of the ECG, Laila Abubakar cautioned individuals found guilty.
She emphasized targeted mapping to identify unauthorized usage points and outlined the newly established prosecution directorate, aimed at holding companies and individuals accountable. The ECG anticipates ongoing revenue mobilization efforts over the next 12 months.
