The Electoral Commission (EC) has suspended the re-collation of presidential and parliamentary election results for constituencies where the collation process did not comply with legal procedures outlined in C.I. 127. The affected collation, held at the Tesano Police Training Depot, will remain on hold until further notice.
According to the EC, the re-collation process was necessitated by disruptions caused by political party supporters on Election Day and subsequent days. These interruptions prevented the completion of the collation process at the constituency level.
The Commission stated that political parties were duly informed of the decision to move the collation to the Tesano Police Training Depot, a location agreed upon in consultation with the Inspector General of Police. The EC noted that political party agents observed the process, which resulted in the successful collation and declaration of results for Fanteakwa North, Akwatia, and Suhum constituencies.
The EC called for cooperation from all stakeholders as it works to fulfill its mandate.
