The Electoral Commission (EC) has announced that it has finalized a “robust and credible” voter register for the 2024 general election. The EC has provided political parties with digital copies of the certified voter register, fulfilling its commitment to deliver this information by early November.
EC Chairperson Jean Mensa emphasized the Commission’s dedication to a transparent and accurate election, noting, “We now have a robust and credible final certified voters register, prepared to support a transparent, fair, peaceful, and successful election on December 7, 2024.”
She attributed the timely completion of the register to “the help of God,” expressing gratitude for reaching this critical milestone in the election process.
At the most recent IPAC meeting on October 15, the EC committed to distributing the certified register by the end of the first week of November. By delivering it on November 6, the EC has given political parties ample time to review the final voter data, underscoring their commitment to an accessible and open electoral process.
Following the recent re-exhibition of the provisional voters register, the EC addressed a total of 158 issues related to registered voters across the country.
“I’m pleased to report that all issues have been resolved, and as of now, there are no outstanding matters regarding the final voters register for the 2024 election,” Mensa stated.
She added that political parties were provided with a template for reporting any issues with the provisional register, and no further concerns were raised, indicating broad acceptance of the final voters register.
