It is the 76th anniversary of the 28th February Christiansborg Crossroad Shooting Incident in Ghana. As is customary annually, a solemn ceremony, including a flag-raising and wreath-laying event, was held to honour the memory of Sergeant Cornelius Francis Adjetey, Cpl Emmanuel Attipoe, and Private Odartey Lamptey.
These ex-servicemen lost their lives in 1948 during a peaceful march to the Osu Castle to present a petition to then-Governor Sir Gerald Creasy.
Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia laid a wreath on behalf of the Government and people of Ghana. Other wreaths were laid by representatives from the security services, Veterans, Traditional Authorities, and fallen soldiers.
The ceremony included a parade contingent featuring officers from the Ghana Army, Navy, Air Force, Police, and the Veterans Association of Ghana, to commemorate the significant day in the nation’s history.
