After an abysmal performance of the Black Stars at the Total Energies African Cup of Nations that was staged in la Côte d’Ivoire head Coach Chris Hughton and his back room staff were sacked.

This decision by the GFA was welcome news to Ghanaians but who was to succeed him was the question many asked.

Days after, a five member committee headed by the Vice President of GFA Mark Addo was put in place to scout for a new coach for the senior national team, the Black Stars.

Consequently, the Ghana Football Association reached an agreement with Otto Addo to take over the job for the second time.

Otto Addo was offered a 34-month contract with an option for a further 24 months.

According to the GFA President Kurt Okraku “There were some brilliant individuals among the coaches who applied for the job, so the committee took pains to interview a chunk of them to pick their thoughts on their intentions to transform the team within a short period of time due to our peculiar situation”

“Otto was exceptional in the interview process and was rated highly by the search committee, hence the decision,” he told ghanafa.org

However, some Ghanaians believe the 5 member committees choice was a bad one following Otto Addo’s involvement in the teams performance when Ghana got kicked out by Comoros and also failed to make it past the group stages of the Mondial.

Meanwhile Ghana will play Nigeria and Uganda in a friendly which will be the litmus test for the Otto Addo in his second stint with the Black Stars.
