The Electoral Commission (EC) has announced that the certified voters’ register for the December 2024 elections will be ready in the first week of November. During an Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting in Accra, Chairperson Jean Adukwei Mensa stated that political parties will have access to this register by then.
Mrs. Mensa emphasized that the EC is committed to cleaning the electoral register, following assurances made at a previous IPAC meeting regarding discrepancies identified during a nationwide exhibition exercise.
The printing of ballot papers will commence tomorrow, based on the total number of registered voters in the revised provisional voters’ register, with an additional two percent added to prevent shortfalls. The EC anticipates printing 18,772,251 ballot papers.
Mrs. Mensa expressed confidence in the methodology, citing that in the 2020 elections, a turnout of 79 percent demonstrated that the current approach would ensure an adequate supply of ballot papers. She assured that no significant changes are expected to the revised provisional register.
