The project in Accra was in three phases; destruction of obsolete and unstable bombs and ammunition, capacity building of armourers and armoury refurbishments. The objective of the renovated armouries at the Accra Region, Nima and Kpeshie Divisions is to help curb the illicit proliferation of fire arms.
The use of outdated equipment remains an impediment to the service’s work in ensuring security. And the government says protecting internal peace and security is of great concern.
