The Public Services Workers’ Union (PSWU) has suspended its strike action following an immediate directive from the National Labour Commission (NLC).
The directive was issued after a meeting involving the PSWU, the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC), and the NLC, aimed at resolving the ongoing labor dispute. In a statement on Friday, October 25, 2024, the PSWU confirmed that its members on the Single Spine Salary Structure will resume work on Monday.
The PSWU noted that the strike suspension is intended to facilitate negotiations for a mutually beneficial resolution to the outstanding issues with the government. The union expressed optimism that discussions will continue to address the concerns that led to the industrial action.
“We wish to inform you that, per the directives of the National Labour Commission, the union has agreed to suspend the industrial action to allow for negotiations within the stipulated time,” the statement read.
The PSWU added that all members are expected to report to work on Monday, October 28, 2024, but cautioned that it would consider further action if the negotiations do not yield satisfactory outcomes.
