President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has officially unveiled the National Service Authority (NSA) following the passage of the National Service Authority Bill. This transformation strengthens the NSA’s mandate, enabling it to legally implement policies and programs that mobilize service personnel to support national priorities.
The NSA, now a fully recognized legal entity, will have the capacity to enter into contractual agreements, a challenge it faced in its previous form as the National Service Scheme (NSS).
President Akufo-Addo commended the NSA’s significant contributions to national development, emphasizing that the new Authority saves the country approximately GHC 3 billion annually in wage costs.
At the launch, Akufo-Addo highlighted the broader role the NSA will play in equipping the youth with employable skills to contribute to the nation’s development, positioning them for success post-service.
He expressed confidence that future administrations, including that of NPP Presidential Candidate Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, would build on this foundation to further advance youth development in Ghana.
This launch marks a pivotal moment for the NSA, 50 years after the NSS’s establishment, and signifies a new era of enhanced youth engagement and national service.
