The Ghana Police Service has filed an application at the High Court, in Accra, actress Yvonne Nelson and two others from holding an intended picketing scheduled for 25th May, 2024 at the Revolution Square, in Accra. The planned protest is against the recent power cuts in parts of the country. From Court documents, the application will be heard on Friday May 24, 2024, the eve of the proposed demonstration. The Police Administration , headed to Court, after the Greater Accra Regional Police Command, could not come to an agreement with organizers of the proposed demonstrations, on the venue of choice and the time, in a meeting on May 15, after lead organisers actress Yvonne Nelson, Selorm Dramani Dramado, and Henry Osei Akoto, met the police. Meanwhile, organisers, of the intended protest, say, they will be challenging the injunction filed by the Ghana Police. Miss Nelson, has been an active voice in the call for current and past governments, to resolve power issues permanently and established the #DumsorMustStop campaign sometime in 2015, during former President Mahama’s tenure on office.
