This was focal when Ghana hosted the Second Session of the Ghana-Kenya Permanent Joint Commission for Cooperation in Accra.

This second session had representation from

Ghana and Kenya’s Ministries, Departments and Agencies to discuss issues of mutual interest in the areas of Foreign Affairs, Customs Administration, Trade and Investment, Sports, Youth Affairs, Scientific and Education, Tourism and Wildlife Conservation.

There were agreements to establish clear timelines and monitoring mechanisms to implement decisions reached. This included commitments to hold regular structured political consultations and review existing agreements such as the Memorandum of Understanding on Agriculture.

At the ceremony, Agreed Minutes were signed by the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration and the Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs.

The Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs of the Republic of Kenya, Mr. Musalia Mudavadi said Kenya commits to building stronger ties with Ghana.

The Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Madame Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey said Ghana and Kenya must write a new chapter of their bilateral relations, one characterized by mutual respect, understanding and cooperation.

Ghana and Kenya’s cordial relations date back to the pre-independence period that saw the struggle for self-rule and independence when respective liberation movements drew inspiration from one another within the spirit of Pan-Africanism.
