In a bid to reshape global perceptions of Africa, the Africa Monologue Challenge (AMC) has secured a significant partnership with the Pan African Women’s Organization, Uganda Chapter (PAWO – Uganda).

The collaboration, announced on Wednesday is to elevate the AMC project and drive positive change across the continent.

The partnership agreement was signed in Kampala, Uganda, with representatives from MK Casting, the African Chamber of Content Producers, PAWO Uganda, and the Consulate of Ghana in Kampala in attendance.

PAWO, a leading advocate for women’s and youth empowerment in Africa, will guide the AMC, ensuring the initiative meets its ambitious objectives.

The second season of the AMC, set to take place in Uganda from July 25th to August 30th, 2024, comes on the heels of Ugandan Rachael Nduhukire’s victory in the inaugural season held in Accra, Ghana, in 2023. The event is supported by the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) and PAWO.

Dr. Majoro Grace Kabayo, Secretary General of PAWO Uganda, emphasized that this partnership represents a shared vision to combat negative stereotypes and highlight Africa’s success stories. PAWO has long been committed to empowerment initiatives, and sees the AMC as a powerful platform to inspire further contributions to Africa’s development.

AMC founders expressed optimism about the partnership, highlighting PAWO’s role as a nurturing figure in the project. The collaboration aligns with PAWO’s mission to enhance the continent’s image and will involve over 2,000 entrants from different African countries. The top 10 finalists will participate in a cultural exchange, promoting dialogue, understanding, and unity.

Talks are also underway with various AU bodies to support the AMC in different capacities, including the Economic and Social and Cultural Council of the African Union (AU ECOSOCC), the Africa Continental Free Trade Agreement Area (AfCFTA), and the Africa Audio Visual and Cinema Commission (AACC).

Nana Dwomoh-Doyen Benjamin, Executive Director of the African Chamber of Content Producers, noted that the AMC aims to shift prevailing negative narratives about Africa. The goal is to highlight Africa’s untold success stories and cultural richness, encouraging intra-African trade and investment by presenting an authentic image of the continent.

As a “mother partner,” PAWO is committed to bringing together all relevant parties to support the vision of AMC Season 2. This significant Pan African event is poised to make a lasting impact, promoting real integration and development across Africa.
