Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has announced a 23-man squad for Ghana’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar. Captain Jordan Ayew will lead the team which includes three home-based players: Benjamin Asare from Hearts of Oak, Kamaradini Mamudu from Medeama SC, and Razak Simpson from Nations FC.

Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey returns to the squad after missing the latter part of Ghana’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign due to injury. With over 50 international caps since his debut in 2016, Partey is expected to play a key role in the upcoming matches.

Southampton winger Kamaldeen Sulemana also makes a return after recovering from his injury. Meanwhile, Jerry Afriyie from Spanish side CD Lugo retains his place following an impressive performance against Niger in November. Additionally, Genk’s Christopher Bonsu Baah has received a call-up. The versatile left-footed attacker, who can play as a winger or attacking midfielder, began his career with Accra Shooting Stars before moving to Europe.

The Black Stars will begin preparations on Monday, March 17, ahead of their home match against Chad at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday, March 21. They will then travel to Morocco to face Madagascar in another Group I clash on Monday, March 24.

Currently, Ghana sits second in Group I with nine points from four matches, tied with Comoros. Their qualification journey thus far includes victories over Madagascar, Mali, and the Central African Republic, with their only defeat coming against Comoros.

These upcoming fixtures are crucial as Ghana aims to strengthen its bid for a fifth World Cup appearance.
