A Nigerian businessman, Ben Peters, has been arrested for obstructing access to Aurora Apartments, a private residential facility located at Kanda, near the Jubilee House in Accra.
The arrest was carried out during a joint operation involving National Security operatives, the Ghana Police Service, and the Military. The operation was led by Deputy Director of Operations at the Presidency, Mustapha Gbande, and Richard Jakpa.
Although the motive behind Mr. Peters’ actions remains unclear, his conduct reportedly prevented residents from entering or exiting the apartment complex. He was accompanied by several unidentified individuals at the time of the incident, some of whom were also taken into custody.
During the operation, Mr. Gbande described the businessman’s actions as unlawful.
“It is an unlawful conduct. It is a commercial property — he doesn’t have the right to block it. He also doesn’t have the right to use a siren. We have banned the use of sirens by private citizens,” he said.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
