The General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Fiifi Fiavi Kwetey, has made some predictions on the December 7, 2024 general election. Acknowledging that no party is perfect, he mentions the NDC’s greater commitment to Ghana, as demonstrated by their track record.

Mr. Kwetey carped the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) for lacking credibility, accusing them of relying on empty slogans such as “1 Village 1 Dam” (1V1D) and “1 District 1 Factory” (1D1F). He argued that these initiatives failed to deliver the promised benefits to Ghanaians. On concerns about the electoral process, Mr. Kwetey expressed distrust in the Electoral Commission (EC), attributing this mistrust to alleged partiality towards the NPP. “It would be naïve for the NDC to trust the electoral commission given its dealings with the President,” he stated, highlighting the strained relationship between the NDC and the EC.

He acknowledged the importance of the 2024 campaign for the NDC, describing it as “crucial” in light of the opposition’s desperation and potential for aggressive tactics. To ensure a robust campaign, the NDC has selected a team of loyal and diligent members dedicated to executing a well-coordinated effort. “Beating the NPP has always been a difficult task, and we are willing to work harder to ensure we win the elections at the polling station, without relying on a Supreme Court declaration,” Mr. Kwetey avowed.

The NDC General Secretary appealed to Ghanaians to unite in voting out the NPP, citing widespread dissatisfaction and suffering under the current administration. He claimed that while the NDC considers the entire country as its stronghold, the NPP depends heavily on support from just two regions. “Ghanaians are feeling the harshness of the massive suffering inflicted on us by the NPP. We must unite to vote them out,” he urged.

As the 2024 election approach, the NDC’s strategy and commitment to a fair and effective campaign will be critical in their bid to secure victory and address the concerns of the electorate.
