The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has disassociated itself from comments attributed to one of its members, Dela Edem, against former President John Agyekum Kufuor.
In a statement signed by National Communications Officer Sammy Gyamfi, the party described the remarks as “unsavoury and distasteful.” It noted that the member in question had retracted the comments and issued an unqualified apology to the former President, which the NDC endorsed.
“The NDC adds its voice to the apology that has been rendered and hopes that this retraction and apology bring closure to the matter,” the statement read, emphasizing the party’s respect for elders and statesmen.
The party further advised its communicators to focus on promoting the policies of John Dramani Mahama and the NDC’s agenda for the December 2024 elections.
Meanwhile, the NDC cautioned the media to guard against the spread of fake news, accusing certain New Patriotic Party (NPP) operatives of disseminating misinformation to mislead the public. The party called on the media to expose such individuals and ensure accountability.
The NDC reiterated its commitment to a campaign of decorum and respect as the nation heads toward the elections.
