The National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has intensified its efforts to educate voters in North Dayi, aiming to promote higher voter turnout and reduce the number of rejected ballots in the 2024 general election.

To achieve this, the NCCE has launched a comprehensive campaign targeting potential voters, especially first-time voters, to inform them about proper voting practices.

District Director Mr. Simon Mawuko, along with NCCE officials Ms. Christine Dey and Ms. Mavis Kojopah, is leading the outreach initiative. They are taking the education campaign to various community hubs, including hair salons, tailoring shops, markets, and senior high schools within the constituency.

Ms. Christine Dey emphasized that every voter has the right to cast a secret ballot without making any identifying marks on the ballot paper. She advised voters to ensure they clearly thumbprint next to their chosen candidate to make sure their vote counts.

Ms. Mavis Kojopah further advised first-time voters against marking more than one candidate on the ballot, as this would make their ballot invalid. She also reminded voters to check for the official Electoral Commission stamp on the back of the ballot before casting their vote.

Mr. Mawuko encouraged all eligible voters to participate in the election, which will take place on December 7, 2024, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. He urged student voters to remain orderly at polling stations, allow others to vote, vote only once, and leave promptly after casting their votes. He concluded with an appeal for peace, encouraging citizens to maintain calm and unity before, during, and after the elections.
