The Ministry of Food and Agriculture has officially announced the 40th edition of National Farmers’ Day, set to take place on Friday, November 8, 2024, in the Greater Accra Region.
Under the theme “Building Climate-Resilient Agriculture for Sustainable Food Security,” this year’s celebration highlights Ghana’s commitment to addressing the challenges of climate change while ensuring food security for the future.
Leading up to the main event, Agrifest Ghana 2024, a five-day National Agricultural Fair, will be held from November 4 to 8.
This event will showcase the best of Ghana’s agricultural sector, bringing together farmers and stakeholders from across the country to exchange knowledge and explore new innovations in agriculture.
The highlight of the Farmers’ Day celebration will be the National Awards Night on November 8, where President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will present awards to outstanding farmers in 16 categories.
The prestigious awards include the Overall National Best Farmer, Best Female Farmer, and Best Physically Challenged Farmer, honoring the invaluable contributions of farmers to Ghana’s agricultural sector.
Given the pressing threat of climate change, this year’s focus on climate-resilient agriculture is crucial for safeguarding food security.
Farmers are at the heart of the nation’s development, and National Farmers’ Day serves as an important platform to promote sustainable agricultural practices that can withstand environmental changes.
