John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has urged the Akufo-Addo administration to reconsider its plans to sign an $800 million gas processing contract.
Speaking at a community event at Ablekuma West, Mr. Mahama cautioned that rushing into this deal without proper parliamentary oversight could lead to significant financial losses and potential judgment debt for Ghana.
He emphasized that the contract should be thoroughly scrutinized by Parliament to protect the nation’s interests.
Mr. Mahama further suggested that the government’s haste to sign the deal, as their term nears its end, could be driven by self-interest.
He warned that those responsible would be held accountable if the agreement results in financial losses for the country.
